Uratex - I Trust U

Certified Uratex Family: "The family that sleeps together, stays together... comfortably!"

You know how significant and dependable a brand is when it becomes synonymous to the product. Take the case of Uratex. You’ll definitely think about bed and mattress when you hear the name, right? And when you hear people talk about beds or mattresses, it’s almost a sure thing that the name Uratex will be mentioned in their conversation.

Uratex has been a partner of many Filipinos for almost five decades now--- all the way back from 1968 with visionary Robert Cheng leading the way. After eight Presidents and counting, hundred of typhoons, and good and bad times in the country, Uratex continues to be a part of the Pinoy life, during up and downs of the fast-changing time.

When I was young, one of my favorite play areas is my grandparent’s bedroom. No, it’s not the big space or the unique scent that entice me to keep on coming back, it’s their soft and comfy bed. I would bounce around, roll and dance on it and not mind falling face flat because I know I will land on the softest foam I’ve ever known. And when I get tired, I just lie down on my old folks’ Uratex bed that would lead to one of those blissful siestas.

I got married in 2006 and one of the first things my wife and I acquired is a mattress. I have a little confession to make: We thought we could save more in buying a cheaper brand so we did not get Uratex. Thus, within a year, our once soft and smooth bed transformed into a rough and uncomfortable bedding. There are times that we opted to use mats (banig) or a folding bed or even sleep on the sofa in search for a better sleeping area.

In 2009, our home in Pasig City got soaked in flood waters for a month brought about by the devastation of typhoon Ondoy. We lost most of our furniture and personal stuff. After the flood subsided, that’s the only time we were able to know what things we can still keep and those we should throw away. It was an easy decision to let go our old bed.

The next day, we went to the Uratex outlet in Marikina City and came back to our house with a brand new double size bed for me, my wife and our then 6-month old child. From that day on, my son Charles has always found comfort on our bed whether while watching TV or studying and sometimes I would even catch him bounce around, roll and dance on it just like me when I was a kid.

I trust Uratex because of so many reason that I would like to sum up in a list. When you like to experience real comfort, think about URATEX:

Unmatched quality
Reasonable price
Adherence to costumer service
Top of mind brand
Excellent products
X Factor in innovation

These are just some of the many reasons that make me one of the millions of happy and loyal Uratex costumers of different generations. And so I say, Uratex I Trust U!

Why I love looking at people's behind

I love looking at people’s behind. Don’t get me wrong. I am not sick nor a pervert. What I mean is that I am just fond of checking out passing stranger’s backpacks.

I have been a fan of backpacks since kindergarten. Though I have a couple of messenger bags in my closet, I am more comfortable with bags on my back than sling baggage on my shoulder. That’s why a head turner for me is either a sexy woman or a nice looking backpack.

Sometimes while I am in a fast food shop along a busy street, I would find myself looking at passersby. Big bags… small bags… blue bags… red bags. It’s like I am watching a parade. There’s even creepy backpacks shaped like a coffin or Jack Skellington of Nightmare Before Christmas while others are bag version of cartoon characters from grandma’s Betty Boop to that annoying- but-kids-love-him Barney the Dinosaur.

Personally, I just love Hawk bags!  I use one everyday going to work. My son brings his to school. My wife got a traveling bag last year and it has become her favorite companion (next to me of course) in every out-of-town trip .

I had  little research about Hawk bag and I found out that the brand started in 1978 and since then have been the embodiment of quality and durability. Building on this legacy, the brand’s business has steadily grown through the years. The brand believes in having a passion for excellence, which is reflected in every single bag.

Mr. Chester Ching, VKC Incorporated Marketing Director, assures loyal Hawk users like that the quality of their product is a top priority in their business operation. He said, "Our present generation is a thinking market. With the growing demand of our patrons, who are very specific with what they want and need, we cannot compromise not to step up and better our game play. We cultivated from offering a durable brand to giving close attention to the bag’s functionality, stylish design with superior features. By persistently adapting to changes, Hawk is increasingly growing in the market."

At present, VKC Incorporated is the distributor of Hawk products at major malls and department stores all over the Philippines. The bags are available at The SM Store, Landmark, Robinsons Department Store, Metro Gaisano, KCC Mall, Sta. Lucia Mall, Fishermall, Olympic Village and Wellworth.

“Even with the success that Hawk is achieving, we will not be complacent. For 2015, we are targeting to expand more stores nationwide and remain as the prominent provider of quality, innovative and reliable bags in the industry,” Chester Ching says with conviction.

To further adapt to market demands, Hawk is making its digital presence more pronounced. Everyone can buy its wide array of designs with just a click of the mouse at www.hawkbag.com.

A Walk Down Memory Lane: Magnolia, Disney and Araneta Coliseum

I find it amusing that sometimes while doing stuff that I think will make my son happy, I end up as the one more excited about them.

One example I can think of right now: I was the one who introduced my 5-year old child to play Lego, Tomica trains and Matchbox/ Hotwheels diecast cars. In the long run, I found myself the one collecting  those toys and have hoarded quite a number of them in my room and in our attic.

Last January 4, I did it again. I brought my wife and our little Charles to the amazing show Disney on Ice at Araneta Coliseum through the help of our friends from Magnolia Chocolait.

Dare to Dream... that's the theme of the latest ice-skating spectacle that we watch annually. While waiting for the show to start, I can't help but daydream for a moment and walk down memory because I was surrounded by things that reminds me of my younger years.

Just being back inside the Big Dome gives me the chill of those classic Ginebra-Purefoods basketball games that I witnessed live more than two decades ago. For a die-hard Robert Jaworski fan like me, I will forever cherish the good times of winning and even the lessons learned of loosing. Err, let's forget the loosing part.

This time, I did not watch action-packed hardcourt action but the excitement inside the coliseum was equally awesome not to mention that majority of screaming fans were not even born when I saw my first basketball game there.

Combining the contemporary stories of two modern-day princesses, Rapunzel and Tiana, with the classic elegance of Cinderella and Snow White, Feld Entertainment's Dare to Dream whisked audiences away on wonderful journeys where dreams really do come true. From the lighting and scenery to the music, choreography and costumes, each element of Disney On Ice: Dare to Dream magically combined to mesmerize the entire family. Of course, Mickey Mouse and the gang composed of Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and other well-loved Disney characters were also there to make it more memorable for kids of all ages.

My wife and I grew up watching Walt Disney cartoons and to see them come to life in an ice-skating extravaganza with our son is truly magical. The experience made us feel like kids again.

After the show, I saw a booth of  Magnolia Chocolait with a display of their products in tetra packs at the entrance of the Big Dome. Back in the days, we had this choco drink delight delivered right to our door step... in bottles. I asked my son if I can try his drink just a little sip. Ahhh... the sweet taste of childhood is still there, indeed.

Today, Magnolia Chocolait is double the fun with its creamy milk chocolate taste. Now in new packs featuring well-loved Disney characters, available in 110ml, 250ml and 1 liter packs. For exciting promotions and updates about this product we all love, just like their FB page www.facebook.com/MagnoliaChocolaitPH or visit www.magnoliachocolait.com.

After the show, we went home happy with a lot of stories to tell our friends and relatives. I'm pretty sure that years from now, my toddler will have his own tales and wonderful memories to share to the world.

Have a bigger and better 2015, everyone! Let's drink (for kids, it's definitely Magnolia Chocolait) to that!
