Have you registered to the Michael V. Comedy Writing Workshop?

Almost 2 decades ago, I was stupid enough not to pursue a career as a gag writer. Ang gago ko lang talaga.

I was shortlisted to be a contributor to a show on ABC 5 (TV5 now) called Tropang Trumpo (probably only of you knows this classic). Well, I did had a few months experience in writing scripts and coming up of original jokes which were also used in the show ISPUP when Tropa guys Ogie Alcasid and Michael V. became Kapuso and created what is now known the epic Bubble Gang. Friday nights were never the same again.

I was a struggling radio news writer for DWWW 774 then when I decided to apply as a copywriter for the Viva Entertainment Group. To make the story short, I chose doing ad copies over making amusing scripts.

Now, my wife is the one suffering because she's the one who receives my corny jokes instead of the  viewers of the comedy shows where I might been working now. But I still have this blog and my work as an editor for a business magazine.

Today, an opportunity opens again for aspiring comedy writer? Here’s your chance to get lessons from the best comedy writers of GMA 7 led by the very talented Ace comedian Michael V. Imagine, you'll be able to learn from THE Bitoy and a chance to work with him in future projects.

Now, be ready with your pen and paper because I'll be writing the mechanics only once, okay?

Mechanics:
>Complete the registration form HERE.

>Submit your photo (2" x 2" photo, JPG, not more than 100KB)

>Submit a writing piece in English, Tagalog, or Taglish with the theme: My funny experience. Format should be: single space, Courier font, size 12, maximum of 500 words in length.

>Registration is from August 24, 2015 to August 31, 2015.

Qualifications:
>Workshop is open to all Philippine residents aged 18 to 35 years old
>At least high school graduate
>Male or Female
>May or may not be currently employed
>With a flexible schedule
>With writing experience academically or professionally
Willing to go through interview and diagnostic tests

Important:
>All submitted entries will be reviewed by a panel.

>Twenty (20) participants will be selected to join the workshop. Chosen participants will be contacted by a GMA representative through the declared contact/mobile number.

>All participants must agree to sign a Participation Agreement, full details of which will be disclosed once qualified.

Anyways, good luck to those who will register. And in case you need some jokes, just contact me because this 37-year old Daddy has some funny bones left.

Symptoms of the highly-contagious AlDub fever

Wala kang sakit, don't worry. Mukhang epekto na yan ng Aldub fever. Check mo kung may sintomas ka na...

3. Kapag may kausap ka at may nabanggit na salitang nagtatapos sa letter "A" or "O" palagi kang humihirit ng "asawa ni.... ?"

Huwag mahiyang umamin. Kahit mga taga-Dos nakatutok na din.

On rainy days, hugot lines and a bottle of Neosep

The rainy season is here again.

Along with it, we should start to prepare for the health and well-being of our family because everyone is prone to illness brought about by sudden rainfall, floods and other weather-related hassles.

Expect people to start to talk about their headaches, flu, cough and cold posts in their social media accounts and soon you might even find yourself joining the band wagon.

But what’s good about us Pinoy is that we find a way to inject fun in things we share online despite experiencing sore throats, clogged nose and a body temperature enough to use your armpits to re-heat those cold pizzas in the ref. Here are some hugot lines I created while bed resting in the house with fever and cold.

Got to share these hugots in the hope that some of you who are under the weather will be cheered up. After all, laughter is the best medicine, right? But of course, let’s be realistic, we need to at least intake some medicines to help our body recover fast especially when we need to finish our tasks, like this pending blog post.

Personally, one brand that I trust when it comes to fighting colds is Neosep. I’m sure you’ll agree. I’ve been a fan of this wonder tablet since high school because it never fails to help in bringing back my body and senses in tip-top shape. Of course, there were times that I also used other brands but always comes back to Neosep because “hiyang ako.

How much do I trust the Neosep? Well, it’s the same brand I give to my 6-year old son whenever he has colds. We never have a hard time giving it to him because of its child-friendly taste compared to other syrup which we commonly describe as “lasang gamot.” I won’t be surprised if he’ll share the our family’s trusted brand to his future kids.

Know more about Neosep and other trusted products via www.unilab.com.ph.

Bonus hugot lines, you like?

Watch Out: Fear The Walking Dead

Zombie fanatics, specifically fans of AMC's The Walking Dead need not wait until the end of the year to get another dose of gruesome but something compelling TV series because its spinoff will soon hit the screen.

Here are some of the first things you might want to know about Fear the Walking Dead just to make you a little excited if you think it may be below par the original series because their is no Rick, Daryl or Carol to entrapped us and be glued on out TV sets.

1. Fear the Walking Dead will premier this August 23, 2015 (Sunday in the US). It will be aired via Fox TV Philippines (if they will follow the same day telecast they did with TWD) every Monday.

2. The first season of FTWD will only have six episodes. They call this a mini-season. So the future of this show will really rely on how TWD fans will welcome it.

Rodriguez

3. Three of the five stars are not Americans. US actresses Elizabeth Rodriguez and Kim Dickens will be joined in the lead cast by Cliff Curtis (New Zealand); Alycia Jasmin Debnam-Carey (Australia), and Frank Dillane (UK).

4. It is predicted that Rodriguez and Debnam-Carey will bring in the male fans to the show while Dillane will serve as the guy to attract the girls.

5. If you care to know, Dillane was Tom Riddle in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Excited? Share your thoughts about FTWD and let's see if it will be a hit or a miss from our favorite guys in AMC.
